India Study
CivicDataLab has been working with the state of Assam since 2017 to improve access to government data and support data-driven decision-making, particularly in areas like flood management and disaster risk reduction. CivicDataLab is currently engaged in in-depth research to assess the viability of a crowd-sourced disaster response platform in Assam, with potential expansion across India.
This study analyzes the current disaster risk reduction landscape, examining physical infrastructure, policy mechanisms, procurement, and resource allocation. The study is also reviewing how data is collected, how disaster response efforts are coordinated, and how critical information is communicated to the public during emergencies.
